Hi, I’m Gen! I’m a drummer, and I’ve been playing since I was 15. Thanks for dropping by!

Growing up, there was always music in my family. My Mum was a piano teacher. This was an instrument I was really taking an interest in, but after seeing AC/DC with Phil Rudd on drums in 1980, everything changed. From that moment onwards, it was all about drums!

My Dad bought me my first kit: a black, 4-piece Premier Elite with a couple of Paiste cymbals. I would rush home from school every day to play along to my favourite songs.

I moved on to a Sonor Phonic kit, which I still have, and have also played Remo and Pearl. My current set is a Gretsch Renown which you can see in photos.

I’m a founding member and drummer of indie dance rock band Jesus Jones since 1988. After taking a break for a few years, I’ve been back behind the kit full-time with them since 2015.

Throughout my career, I have been fortunate enough to play other styles of drumming with some other wonderful artists.

I was the touring drummer for Regency Buck in 2002 for their Incoming album, and we toured that year with the band Wheatus.

I recorded two albums with Glasgow rock band Baby Chaos Deckard,  Stereodreamscene and Dreams of Dynamite and Divinity. I toured with the band between 1997 and 2004.

I’ve played with country rock band The Blazing Zoos since 2006. We’ve released two albums, I’ll leave Quietly in 2010 and Chocs Away in 2016. We’ve played around the UK and Europe and supported the band Drive By Truckers in 2010.

I’ve done media and TV work too, including commercials for Toyota Cars (featuring Kylie Minogue) and Top Of The Pops with Suggs from Madness.

After 45 years, I’m still playing and as enthusiastic as ever. I regularly play at home on my e-kit and am a huge fan of the Drumeo gang for all their online playing opportunities/practice and tutoring.

I’m used to and comfortable playing to click and backing tracks.

I would love to play drums for you if you need me! Live shows, recording, TV etc.

I look forward to hearing from you! Let’s talk! Let’s rock!
